Voucher in Tally ERP9 is a data entry form that allows us to enter a business transaction of particular type. Tally provide many built-in vouchers for different type of transactions.

All the built-in vouchers of Tally can be divided into four groups:

1. Accounting Vouchers
2. Inventory Vouchers
3. Order Vouchers
4. Payroll Vouchers

Accounting Vouchers: All the vouchers under this category can update all the masters like ledger balance, stock balance. Eg: receipt, purchase
Inventory Vouchers: Vouchers in this group can update only inventory masters but cannot update accounting masters Eg: stock journal, receipt note
Order Vouchers: These vouchers are just used to create orders but do not update any masters Eg: Purchase Order, Sales Order
Payroll Vouchers: These vouchers are used to enter attendance/production details and calculate salary based on Attendance or production. Eg: Payroll
